Burglary Cripples Guidelines’ Russian Broadcast Partner

ST PETE - DAY 2 - 017
Oleg Cherny, the Russian voice of the Guidelines Commentary along with Alexey Vlasihin and Alex Anisimov of Radio Teos, interview Dr. Sala on air in St. Petersburg in September 2014.

A break-in at the St. Petersburg studios of the Far East Broadcasting Company, known as Radio Teos, has crippled the station, which has had to cut its broadcast schedule in half.  The loss, which included microphones, a laptop, desktop computer and operating funds, was approximately $10,000, according to Victor Ahkterov, Far East Broadcasting (FEBC) Director of Russian/Ukrainian Broadcasting.  “This is very discouraging,” Ahkterov admitted.  “War destroying our station in Slavyansk, Ukraine and the loss of 4 brothers in Christ there, was hard to bear but this is an unexpected loss.”

“We believe that this is the time to work vigorously get the message of the hope of the Gospel to Russia and Russian speaking peoples,” Guidelines founder Dr. Harold Sala explained.  “There are indications that the climate may be changing and so we want to try and help Radio Teos recover from this loss and press on.”

Guidelines’ broadcast partnership with FEBC in Russia is a long one.  The Guidelines Commentary is heard not only throughout Russia but also in other countries with sizable Russian-speaking populations such as Kazakhstan.  We receive letters monthly from listeners whose lives are touched by the simple and practical message of the Commentaries.  Programming based on Dr. Sala’s Heroes, or Profiles in Faith books have been very popular, according to Radio Teos’ Oleg Cherny, who voices and produces the programs.

If you would like to help Radio Teos in St. Petersburg get back on it’s feet, you can give here and select Guidelines Russian Broadcasts from the pull-down menu.
