Isaac then made a feast for them, and they ate and drank.  Genesis 26:30 A certain high school teacher introduced a course entitled, “Home Ec for Boys!”  Nobody touched it.  So she changed the course title to, “Bachelor Living for Men,” and the enrollment quickly filled up.  Same stuff‑‑cooking, sewing, and washing.  It was what the words communicated. Words are such poor vehicles of our thoughts. A certain woman who was traveling in Europe learned that the hard way, when she sent the following telegram to her husband, “Have found wonderful bracelet.  Price Seventy‑five thousand.  May I buy it?”  He

Evaluating Christian Leaders

Evaluating Christian Leaders

Every so often you hear about a Christian leader who has had a moral failure. When that happens, people often ask, “How can I know that a pastor or TV evangelist or any Christian leader is for real? How can I count on what he says to be true?” A verse in the book of Hebrews speaks to this point, giving us guidance. You find it in Hebrews 13, verse 7, and this is what it says: “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”

So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.  Matthew 19:6 Fifty-one years ago today, the first Guidelines commentary was released over radio KFSG in Los Angeles. I had just produced a week of programming using an Electrovoice 664 microphone plugged into a used—very used—Ampex 350 recorder the size of a shipping crate. No, I had no idea of the fact that 13,260 Mondays later, I would still be doing this. I simply knew that’s what God wanted me to do on that first day, and I’ve continued to keep on

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.  1 Peter 3:7 The farther removed we are from what God says about our lives in the pages of the Bible, the greater will be the injustices inflicted upon women and the greater will be their pain and suffering.  Before you question that, ask what is it that insures that she is treated as an equal, that provides protection for

No realmente. Cuando el gritar se convierte en hábito,

Women Owe A Bundle To Jesus Christ

Women Owe A Bundle To Jesus Christ

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Dear woman, here is your son” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.  John 19:26-27 If you are a woman who can read, can decide what she wants to do with her life, votes her convictions, has a voice and uses it, you owe more to the influence of Jesus Christ in our world than you have any idea.  Don’t thank democracy, women’s rights, or liberal thinking for what

How Would You Like To Be Remembered?

How Would You Like To Be Remembered?

by

August 27, 2014

He passed away, to no one’s regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.  2 Chronicles 21:20 How would you like to be remembered when you die?  That’s one of those questions we don’t spend a lot of time thinking about, but it’s a valid question.  When I interview people, I’ll often ask that question as the very last one completely unrehearsed and unexpected.  How would you like to be remembered?  The American humorist Mark Twain once said, “So live that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry”–not an
