There is no “typical” day in the lives of Harold and Darlene Sala. Why? The responsibilities and tasks before them are many and varied. When people ask Harold, “How do you do what you do?” he replies, “It’s very simple. Every morning I point my feet in the direction I know God wants me to go, and then get moving!” A younger generation often has trouble keeping up with his pace.
Harold often spends time each month mentoring and encouraging pastors, usually one-on-one. In addition to producing five Guidelines’ commentaries each week, he often speaks to business groups and pastors, ministers almost every Sunday in a church and finds time to enjoy time with family and friends. Darlene works with women often doing “behind the scenes” mentoring and encouraging.
In July Dr. Sala spoke for two separate groups of business executives, Saddleback at Work’s The Business Connection and Convergence, and did a two-part series of “Profiles of God” at Cornerstone Community Church.
Most of the month of August will be spent in ministry in Israel and Ireland where—believe it or not—Harold and Darlene will be ministering to Filipinos. Some 30,000 Filipinos are working in Israel where Pastor Allan Peralta shepherds a flock who meets at 9:30 PM on Saturday evening. Flying on to Dublin they will again minister to Filipinos who will come from all over the Middle East, where there is no freedom of worship, to hear the Word, pray, and fellowship together.
Photos represent the varied ministry and nature of Guidelines and the couple who head the work.
