Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8

Have you ever wavered back and forth between two options at some critical time in your life? Decision-making can be excruciating.

We struggle with decisions because we need wisdom. God knows this and He gave us the Bible as the essential guide for our lives. The Bible is a collection of stories and letters that reveal who God is throughout all of history. But it’s also an instructional guide help us navigate life. God has revealed His values and principles in the Bible to help us deal with any life situation.

A man named David said it like this, in the Bible book of Psalms: “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” (Psalms 119:105). As we read the Bible, we learn about the ways that God designed us to think, speak, and act. When we follow God’s instructions, we experience the incredible life God has for us. We’re also given warnings that help us avoid temptations that lead to destruction in our lives.

Changes in our thinking happen gradually through the power of God’s Spirit in us, but it takes focus and our cooperation. That’s why God tells us to “keep his word on [our] lips… day and night (Joshua 1:8). We do this by hearing the truth repeatedly, asking God to help us understand and live it out.
