This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.  The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

From business turnarounds to home makeovers, the idea of transformational change is hugely appealing.

When something is an easy fix, we love change. But when it comes to transformational, personal change, the old saying, “No pain, no gain” usually applies.  It’s hard to change ourselves, and it’s impossible to change someone else!

God, on the other hand, specializes in transformational change. Scripture says that “anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). God’s transformation in a person’s life is so complete that sometimes a person is unrecognizable in their new state.  Saul’s life was an example of this. He was the man chosen by God to be the first king of the Israelites in the Old Testament. God’s purpose for Saul was going to require him to be something he currently was not.  Transformation was part of the preparation and the transformation people saw in Saul was so astounding people that everyone said, “Wow, can just anyone become a prophet, no matter who his father is?” (1 Samuel 10:12)

God’s change agent was and still is the Holy Spirit. In Old Testament times, God’s Spirit came to distinct individuals. God told Saul, “The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you…and you will be changed into a different person” (1 Samuel 10:6).  Today, the Holy Spirit lives within the person who surrenders their life to Jesus’s leadership. But transformation always begins with a yes. “Yes,” we need to say, “Yes to Your way and Your means.”

Don’t limit what God can and wants to do through you with doubt, hesitancy, fear or just plain disobedience.
