Tagalog – An Overview

Over 42 million people speak Tagalog, the primary language of the Philippines. Around 2.7 million Tagalog speakers call the United States home, with larger communities in Canada, Australia, and Asian and Middle Eastern countries as well. The Philippines has seen a huge number of its residents emigrate to other countries for decades, so Tagalog has traveled far and swiftly. Those who speak Tagalog report themselves as Christians in very high numbers, consistently over 90%. Introduction to the gospel is not as much of a necessity as is enrichment and encouragement.

The Philippines is an archipelago made up of 7,100 islands and islets. This makes radio an important form of access to information for many who speak Tagalog.

“Guidelines for Living” is enlightening, encouraging, comforting and it points me to follow the Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for me. I have learned to understand people who do not know Christ and I have learned to forgive their wrongdoings, no matter how painful.
