Thai – An Overview

Thailand is 95% Buddhist as Thai people say that “to be Thai is to be Buddhist.”  Remaining as one of the most spiritually resistant countries in the world, the Thai people think that “Christianity is only for Westerners,” with very little access to Christian churches, even in large cities.  Eighty-eight percent of the entire Thai population are still considered unreached.

Thailand is considered to have an aging population, with a median age of 39. It is a relatively egalitarian society in social and family matters.

Although Buddhism is deeply and actively entwined in Thai culture, Thailand does not have an official religion and allows people of other religions to operate and proselytize freely. After Thailand, the second largest community of Thai speakers is in the United States.

Story of Impact

N: “I would like to listen about God at church.  There is no church that preaches in Thai in my district; therefore…I listen to the radio regularly.”

I contemplated committing suicide … the radio was on. The “Guidelines for Living” broadcast that gave me a new lease on life! I burst into tears… My life was saved, our relationship restored and God brought us to a ministry

“Guidelines for Living” is enlightening, encouraging, comforting and it points me to follow the Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for me. I have learned to understand people who do not know Christ and I have learned to forgive their wrongdoings, no matter how painful.
