Speaker, author and Bible teacher, Dr. Harold Sala founded Guidelines in 1963. Pioneering the five-minute commentary in Christian radio, Dr. Sala’s daily “Guidelines-A Five Minute Commentary on Living” is broadcast in 49 of the 50 states and is heard the world over in a variety of languages. Sala, who holds a Ph.D. in biblical text, has authored over 60 books published in19 languages. He speaks and teaches frequently at conferences, seminars, and churches worldwide. Residing in Mission Viejo, California, Harold and his wife, Darlene, have three adult children and eight well-loved grandchildren.
Bonnie assumed leadership of the Guidelines Team in January 2016, overseeing operations after having served as the ministry's CEO for two years. The "original" Team member, (as Harold & Darlene's eldest child), Bonnie and her team are committed to the original Guidelines' mission of reaching, teaching and touching the world with the message of the Gospel and to a ministry built upon prayer. Bonnie has expanded international broadcast partnerships, developed Guidelines' online presence, our THRIVE ministry to women and spearheads the Guidelines Legacy Project. The Legacy Project exists to establish community based radio stations and equipping community partners to provide Bible-based, people-oriented programming in unserved areas.
Prior to her work with Guidelines, Bonnie used her broadcast journalism and business degree in financial tech marketing. She has been active in missions leadership at the church level and is a graduate of the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement Course, U.S. Center for World Mission, now Frontier Ventures. She has two adult sons.
Darlene Sala has had an active ministry role as pastor’s wife, counselor, Bible teacher, missionary, author and leader of Guidelines International Ministries, which reaches more than one hundred countries through radio, literature and conferences.
Darlene’s ministry centers on helping women realize their worth as beloved in Christ. Her best selling release, Created for a Purpose—Hope for the Woman Struggling with Self-Esteem, as well as You are Blessed, You are Loved, You are Chosen and others, have resounded with women throughout the world. She speaks several times each year at family conferences and churches in the United States as well as the Philippines, China, Ukraine, Russia and Africa. Darlene is the mother of three adult children and grandmother of eight, seven handsome grandsons and one Princess.
Born and raised in the Philippines, Luisa joined Guidelines 18 years ago, after a successful career in luxury hotel management. As Dr. Sala's right hand, Luisa proved to be a multi-tasking marvel! Today Luisa coordinates Guidelines' ministry in the Philippines and manages all broadcast media. As Guidelines' programs are broadcast in an increasing number of languages, Luisa's responsibility for coordinating all radio translation,production, distribution and relationships has grown! She also translates, voices and produces Darlene Sala's Encouraging Words commentary in Taglish. Luisa is the author of two books: What Women Can Do When Life Falls Apart and When a Man Loves a Woman, (released by OMF). Luisa has raised twin daughters.
Christi came to Guidelines from a background of 12 years in donor relations with the ministry of Joni & Friends as well as years as an administrator in Christian education. As an enthusiastic people person, Christi excels at ministry relations, praying with listeners over the phone and helping donors match their Kingdom passion with Guidelines' ministries. Christi also coordinates marketing communications and care for Guidelines' missionaries throughout the world. Christi is a worship leader in her local church, is married to Bjarne Haukebo (yep...Norweigian). The Haukebos have an adult son and high school aged daughter.
Tracy Van Denberg joins Guidelines with a background in both corporate and non-profit finance. She was with the Disney Company for 10 years and has served as Treasurer of her home church, Trabuco Presbyterian Church, for 5 years. Tracy holds a Master of Business Administration from Chapman University. Tracy is vigilant in ensuring that Guidelines' 53 year commitment to the highest standard of financial integrity is upheld. In addition to running all things financial at Guidelines, Tracy has run countless marathons and keeps up with her husband, Eric and their 3 high school and college aged kids.
