I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering. Exodus 3:7
“Everything changed when I was introduced to Jesus.” Those are the words of a man who spent 30 years separated from his family.
After communism collapsed in Albania, poverty forced 15-year-old Gezim to leave his family and village to search for a better life in Italy. He remembers the pain of separation as people took advantage of him, leaving him on the streets with nowhere to go. Gezim persevered because he wanted to help his mother and siblings back in Albania. Yet even in his isolation, Gezim wasn’t unseen. “Through the kindness and love I experienced at church, I discovered the true meaning of Christ’s love,” Gezim shared.
The Bible tells of a time when God’s people suffered in Egypt, and God said, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering” (Exodus 3:7). The God of the Bible is called “the God who sees” (Genesis 16:13), and He saw Gezim.
One day, while scrolling online, Gezim discovered short devotional programs in his own language. Day after day, they brought him comfort and hope. One program on forgiveness touched his heart. “It helped me realize that I needed to let go of my bitterness toward those who had wronged me to find freedom and healing.” Gezim says, “I am learning to let go of years of resentment toward those who took advantage of me, trusting God to continue His work of healing as I take this step of forgiveness.”
To his joy, Gezim has reunited with his family back home. God saw Gezim. And whatever you’re facing today, He sees you too.
