God loved us, and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:4-5

What happens when the way you’ve always seen yourself changes?
Hannah is an internationally recognized fitness trainer, athlete and entrepreneur. But after she became a mother, things weren’t the same physically or mentally. She realized, “I have spent my entire career encouraging people not to measure their worth solely by what they see in the mirror. Meanwhile, I’ve been quietly doing exactly that to myself.”[1]Hannah Eden, "Let Me Reintroduce Myself," Hannah Eden (blog), Substack, September 9, 2026, https://hannahedenfitness.substack.com/p/let-me-reintroduce-myself.
When our identity and worth are built on looks, accomplishments, abilities or relationships, sooner or later that foundation will be shaken. Even the fittest bodies change. Someone else will eventually do things better than we can.
The Bible has good news for all of us who struggle with who we are. It tells of an identity that nothing can change. “Even before he made the world,” the Bible says, “God loved us, and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes” (Ephesians 1:4).
You are loved. You are chosen. When you accept God’s gift of forgiveness through Jesus, He sees you as holy and without fault. Not because of what you have done, but because of what Jesus has done. And you belong. Scripture tells, “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1:5a).
At some point, all of us must let go of what we used to be. God says you don’t have to chase your old self or invent a new one. The mirror will change. God’s love for you won’t. Ask Him today to make you His, and let Him tell you who you are.
