Radio In Ukraine

Radio reaches people in crisis, bringing a familiar, comforting voice even in the midst of war. Here’s how God is using radio in Ukraine today!   Despite the launch of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the seven radio stations carrying Guidelines programs in Ukraine remain on-air. Two of the stations were directly hit by missiles but were quickly restored. In addition, our partners launched a new station in the city of Zaporizhzhia despite the current war!    The broadcasters of FEBC Ukraine are boldly declaring Christ’s love, broadcasting prayer, worship, and encouragement on-air night and day, despite the great risk to themselves as their country experiences profound devastation. Listeners call and text the stations as well as interact with them on social media. FEBC staff also counsels callers over a helpline, leading many to find new life in Jesus.

“I have been holding [on-air] prayer meetings almost every day of the war,” says Ina Tsaruk, a broadcaster with FEBC Ukraine. “People write in with prayer requests, questions, and sometimes, anger. I read them and answer them as well as I can, and of course, we pray.”

Listeners write:

“This has been an incredibly difficult time for me, but thanks to these powerful prayer meetings, I have found peace.”

“Praying with you has become a habit. Something feels wrong when I go to sleep without having prayed with you first.”

War-torn and hostile areas often leave civilians feeling trapped and powerless. With limited resources, imminent danger, and many unknowns, information is essential! In addition to broadcasting worship, devotionals, and prayer, Guidelines partners worldwide can also use their radio stations to transmit life-saving information in emergencies. In Ukraine, we witness first-hand just how powerful radio can be in these situations.

Our long-running partnership with FEBC Ukraine spans decades and has demonstrated these believers’ tenacious commitment to service amid war. In the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine, four station volunteers were martyred while the FEBC station in Slavyansk was destroyed. Guidelines was able to aid their efforts to restore that station, which remains on-air today! We’re humbled that Guidelines’ programs are broadcast in Ukrainian as these radio towers enable us to serve Ukraine in such a time as this.

Will you pray with us that God would strategically lead us, establishing us in hostile regions for us to serve the global church in its greatest need? By translating biblical discipleship material into the languages of people living in developing, unreached, and hostile regions, we’re equipped to serve those who need it most in hours of crisis.

Thank you for remembering those suffering as you practically invest in prayer and support! In Jesus, we are one body. We remember the words of Jesus in John 13:35: “By this, all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Let’s serve our brothers and sisters in crisis today!
