He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act. Exodus 2:25

Do you get cranky when you’re hungry? Imagine having hundreds of mouths to feed … and nothing at all to feed them.

This was the plight of one man who ran a large home for orphan children. He was a person of great faith, and he depended completely on praying to God for everything that he needed. One morning, the home had run out of food. The man sat all of the children at tables and actually thanked God for the food that God would provide even though none was in sight!

After he finished praying there was a knock at the door. The local baker had been awakened in the night with a feeling that he should bake extra bread for the children’s home, so he got up and did it! Moments later someone else showed up at the door with fresh milk.

All too often when things get desperate, we imagine that God has forgotten us. The Bible tells of a period of time when God’s people were enslaved, and they cried out to Him for rescue for over 400 years! Scripture says, “He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act” (Exodus 2:25). We aren’t always able to understand God’s ways and His timing because He is God, and we are not. But we can always trust His love and His heart for us.

The Bible says ” … when the right time came, God sent his Son” (Galatians 4:4a). He sent His Son to earth to take the punishment for all the ways that you and I miss God’s standard of perfection. God’s sacrifice of love shows that we can trust Him completely. Are you waiting on Him today for something you desperately need? Here’s a truth to hold on to. You can be sure that He will act on your behalf … at just the right time.
