For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. Ephesians 2:14
We live in a world of differences. But we prefer to surround ourselves with people just like us.
Whether it’s the way someone votes, the color of their skin, or even the food they eat, we struggle with what feels unfamiliar. But God hates division! The Bible’s Psalm 133:1 reminds us: “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!” But how do we find this harmony in our deeply divided world?
Our only solution for unity is found in Jesus. As the Bible book of Ephesians says, “Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us” (Ephesians 2:14). In his torn body, Jesus tore down the dividing wall of hostility between races. He gives us a new identity. As a follower of Jesus, you have been adopted into one family. Jesus wants to lead you to forgive and see others through the eyes of love like never before!
And here’s the beautiful part: Jesus didn’t erase our differences. He redeemed them. Jesus formed a new, diverse family that reflects His kingdom—a family made up of every tribe, language, and nation. Scripture says that in Jesus, “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future” (Ephesians 4:4). Our differences don’t divide us in Christ; they reveal the many facets of God’s glory. Think about this: Heaven will be the most mixed neighborhood ever!
Jesus didn’t call us to take over or conform others to our image, but to conform ourselves to His.
