Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7

What if your body knows something your mind hasn’t admitted yet?

Tight shoulders. A clenched jaw. Trouble sleeping. Long before we can explain what’s wrong, our bodies carry the weight of what we don’t want to face.

Many of us were taught to handle stress by pushing through it, staying busy, or praying—without stopping to listen. But the Bible reminds us that we don’t just live in our heads. We’re whole people—bodies, emotions, and souls woven together.

The Bible book of John tells us that God “ … became human and made his home among us” (John 1:14). God didn’t just send a message—He took on a physical body. So, when Scripture invites us to give our worries to God, it isn’t only something we do with our minds. It can be a very real, physical act. As a poet put it: “Your body is holding all of this. Give it to a bigger body.” When life feels heavy, God doesn’t shame us for our limits. He invites us to place our weight into His care.

One of Jesus’s followers wrote these words to believers under pressure: “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7). That sentence holds two truths together. We’re not meant to carry everything alone. And God is not distant from what weighs us down.

Sometimes faith looks less like having the right words and more like loosening your grip. Letting your body rest in the care of God. So today, pause for a moment. Close your eyes, take a nice, big breath and notice where you’re holding tension. Imagine placing that weight into God’s hands. You are not weak for feeling overwhelmed. You are human, and deeply cared for.
