They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. Romans 1:19-20
Have you ever stood in front of a spectacular piece of art and been struck by the feeling it stirred?
Vincent Van Gogh, creator of the moody swirls of a painting called The Starry Night, once said, “I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say, ‘he feels deeply, he feels tenderly.'”[1] Vincent dreamed of sharing his emotions with those who would look upon his work hundreds of years later.
You live within a universe created by the original artist–every star was designed to reveal to you God’s nature. And like Van Gogh, God has expressed His desire for us to see Him in His creation. When we look up at countless blazing stars, we guess at the strength of His dazzling splendor. When the sun rises faithfully each morning, we imagine God’s faithfulness. When we see the green of spring, we experience God’s capacity to bring new life.
The Bible book of Romans, says, “They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature” (Romans 1:19-20).
All of nature is your invitation to know God. We live in an imperfect, fallen world, marred by the impact of human free will choosing sin. Yet even so, flowers grow between cracks in the cement, the breeze finds us in the heat, and the rain that waters us all declares to us, again and again, who our heavenly Father is.
