How to Know if What Jesus Said Is True
How to Know if What Jesus Said Is True
The first four books of the New Testament in your Bible contain pages and pages of the teachings of Jesus. Do you want to know if what Jesus said here on Earth is true? Jesus Himself told us how to find out. He said, “If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.” You’ll find that claim in the fourth book of the New Testament—the book of John, chapter seven (John 7:17).
Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? If you want to do God’s will, you’ll know if what Jesus says is really from God. OK, let’s see, now, how that works out in real life. You’ve heard that the Bible is good book. But you’re wondering if it’s really true. Then ask yourself one question: “Do I really want to do God’s will in my life? Am I so sincere in finding out whether the Bible is true that I am willing to commit to God’s will for me, wherever that may lead me?”
If that truly is your attitude, then sit down with a Bible, opening to the beginning of the Gospel recorded by John and start reading. All the time you’re reading, keep in mind that you’re looking for truth, and Jesus will reveal Himself through His word.
If you’re not a yet a believer in Jesus Christ and you’re still searching, I challenge you to do what Jesus proposed. Don’t put it off. Dust off that Bible and get started today.
A famous Chinese pastor by the name of Brother Yun,” said this: “You can never really know the Scriptures until you’re willing to be changed by them.”[1] With this in mind, ask yourself, “Am I willing?” If so, you are about to embark on the greatest adventure of your life.
