Sometimes the help we’re praying for is already on its way, arranged by a God who doesn’t wait to be asked to work on our behalf.
Martie believed that God was for her. But it wasn’t until she received a frightening diagnosis that she discovered just how far ahead He’d already been working.
At the time, her husband, Albert, worked an unsustainable schedule, often sixteen or seventeen hours a day, many weekends. They knew it couldn’t continue, not with Martie’s treatment ahead. So, they began praying, asking God to intervene.
Not long after, Albert’s project ended. Within weeks, a former colleague invited him to work on a new project. Only then did they discover something remarkable: the new project’s manager had a wife just months into cancer treatments herself. He understood exactly what Martie’s family was facing. From the start, he told Albert, “Whenever you need to take time off to care for Martie, take it. Family comes first.”
Looking back, Martie sees proof God already knew what was coming—He was already arranging the people and support they’d need months later.
The Bible encourages us: “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you” (Deuteronomy 31:8). That doesn’t mean God removes every obstacle, but He goes ahead, preparing the way before we see it.
Maybe today you’re facing something uncertain: a health concern, a change at work, a worry for someone you love. You may not see it yet, but you can trust He’s already there.
The God who goes before us is the same God who walks beside us, every step of the way.
