I am the First and the Last; there is no other God. Isaiah 44:6

In 1966, a famous western publication asked, “Is God Dead?”[1] The magazine article concluded that that the answer was, yes…but God apparently didn’t get the news.

We live in the era of personal branding. We present ourselves through carefully crafted posts that present our personal impressiveness. Centuries ago, God Himself “posted” loudly and clearly about Who He is. God’s statements about His identity– give those who have committed to follow Him rock solid encouragement and confidence.

Listen to what God says of Himself in the Bible book of Isaiah: “I, yes I, am the Lord and there is no other Savior” (Isaiah 43:11). “I am the First and the Last; there is no other God” (Isaiah 44:6). And to those journalists who announced his demise, God counters, “From eternity to eternity I am God” (Isaiah 43:13).

Perhaps you believe that God is alive. You’ve chosen to follow Him and have known Him to work personally in your life, but sometimes feel uncertain. To you, God says, “No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done,” “…there is none who can deliver from my hand; I work, and who can turn it back?” (Isaiah 43:13 NLT & ESV).

If you’re not sure that you believe, the one and only God of the Bible confidently welcomes your questions, your doubts, your fears. He knows Who He is, and He knows who you are: His so loved creation (John 3:16). To you, He says, “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you” (Jeremiah 29:13-14). He invites you in close, saying, “Draw near to me and I will draw near to you” (James 4:8).
