Share one another’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
Beth has never met Aferdita, but when she heard her story, she was shocked.
Beth lives in the United States where she’s gone to church her whole life and owns a shelf of Bibles. She goes to Bible study and listens to Christian radio. “I’ve felt uniquely ministered to,” Beth shares.
Aferdita lives on the other side of the world from Beth. Aferdita comes from a Muslim family and is the only Christian in her family. She lives with her alcoholic husband and two adult sons. Her husband is violent when he’s drunk and abuses her physically if she mentions going to church or meeting any other Christian. Aferdita wrote, “On those days, I’m so thankful I have a solar radio. I can’t go to church and meet with other believers and be encouraged from the preaching, but I have my church with me through the radio. On those difficult moments the Lord comforts my heart through the programs. I feel like all programs are what I need at the moment. The radio is a very close loving friend to me.”
Beth thinks often about Aferdita—her sister in Christ. She considers the scripture that says, “So it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body and we all belong to each other” (Romans 12:5), and “Share one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Beth said, “Here in the U.S. we go to church without fear or danger … and sadly most don’t bother going. I want these people who want to hear God’s Word to be able to do so.”
Beth helps make it possible for Scripture-based devotionals to reach people in their own languages. For many, those broadcasts are their only source of encouragement under persecution. And like Beth, you can help listeners like Aferdita carry their burdens. Give a gift today at guidelines.org.
