So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NIV

What is God like? Your answer to that question can tell a lot about the amount of anxiety you live in.

It’s been said that you’ve either just come through a crisis, are in one now, or will head into one soon. There is much we could be anxious over, or worry about, in this life. But one pastor says that “Jesus makes [a] connection between the anxiety we carry in our bodies in relation to the views of God we carry in our minds.  In many ways, the degree to which our view of God is accurate is the degree to which we will carry anxiety… so many of these false images produce anxiety.[1]

What beliefs about God are you operating out of?

Jesus described God as an all-powerful, good father whose love is infinite and unconditional (Mark 10:18, Luke 17:24, John 3:16, John 10:29). Jesus said that God cares for you, knows what you need before you ask Him and will give you everything that you need (Matthew 6:30, 6:8, 6:33). Jesus’s statements about God are recorded in scripture, and you can read them for yourself in the Bible books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

God talked about Himself and His desire to assure us in an older book of the Bible called Isaiah. He said,  “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10 NIV). Those words are true for all who come to Him today. God’s love, His offer of forgiveness and help are available for all who come to Him in surrender.

“God is with us and for us,”[2] we’re reminded. What would our lives be like if we really believed that?
