The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Ever asked, “How can I get out of my negative cycle?”
That’s the question Emreck asked. He dropped out of school at 13 years old when his father left him and his mother for another woman. Emreck admitted, “I guess my entire upbringing has impacted me negatively.”
Today, Emreck is 39. He’s married, with a young son he loves but is distraught over the destructive cycle he’s in of drinking too much and hitting his wife when he’s drunk. In Emreck’s culture, that’s not uncommon, but Emreck wants a different life.
Through a radio program, Emreck heard about Jesus and says he put his faith in Him. “Now,” he asks, “How can I get out of my negative cycle? I am very weak when it comes to temptation.”
Emerick isn’t alone in his struggle. To each of us the Bible says that “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
If you’re struggling with a destructive habit you want to shed, reach out for help. God promises to make a way for you, like He did for Emreck.
Emreck reached out to the Christians sharing the radio programs he listens to. He learned that God delivers us from destructive habits by His power and by the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. They shared that God also almost always uses others who will walk with us in our growth. Together they’re walking with Emreck in the ways of Jesus.
