Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.” Genesis 16:13a

In crowded streets, loud markets, and family gatherings, you can still feel deeply alone.

Have you ever felt invisible even while living in the middle of a busy city? Maybe you’ve been there—standing on a balcony late at night while the neighborhood settles, checking your phone again and again, wondering if anyone notices how heavily life weighs on you. All over this world many carry silent burdens—family expectations, financial pressure, private griefs, or questions about God they feel afraid to ask. Some feel unseen inside their own homes. Others feel unseen by God Himself.

There’s a story in the Bible of a woman who felt exactly this way. Her name was Hagar. She ran away into the wilderness feeling mistreated, abandoned, and afraid. Yet in her lowest moment, she encountered God—not a distant ruler, but a God who spoke to her with compassion and called her by name. In response, she said, “You are the God who sees me” (Genesis 16:13a).

Maybe you’ve wondered if God sees you. Your tears, questions, your longing for direction, fear of disappointing those you love, efforts to do what is right, your hidden pain.

The God who met Hagar has not changed. He sees the mother who cries after everyone has gone to sleep. The young man trying to prove himself. The worker far from home sending money back each month. The believer who follows Jesus quietly because it’s not safe to speak openly.

Jesus showed God’s heart—He noticed the people everyone else overlooked. He spoke gently to the hurting. He lifted up those who felt forgotten.

If you’ve wondered whether God sees you, He does. More than you know. And He still speaks to those who are listening.
