The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7b
What if God’s favorite moments in your life are the ones that would never make the headlines?
Bao is a quiet man. He doesn’t lead crowds or have a lot to say. He fixes broken things for his elderly neighbor, helps children cross the street safely, and prays for his family late into the night. No one asks for his opinion. Few people notice him.
But God notices.
Maybe you’ve felt like Bao—thinking you’re too small, too limited, or too hidden to make a real difference. But the Bible tells a different story. When God’s spokesman named Samuel came looking for the man to be king over God’s people, he almost overlooked David. David was just a boy watching over sheep in the fields. But God said: “The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them … the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
So, what is God looking for? Jesus praised a widow who gave two tiny coins. He honored a woman who poured out her perfume to honor Him. He noticed the hungry, the imprisoned, the sick, and the overlooked—and called them the greatest in His kingdom.
You don’t have to be famous to be faithful. You don’t need an audience to be a light. Your kindness matters. Your work matters. Your prayers matter.
Jesus said, “If you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of My followers, you will surely be rewarded” (Matthew 10:42). Don’t believe the lie that says your life is too small. The God of the Bible says that the little things matter a lot to Him. He loves working through people the world forgets.
Today, you can live a life that matters forever to the God who sees you.
