When Faith Feels Fragile

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. Psalm 77:11 NIV

Have you ever asked God for help only to wonder later if He heard you?

When Mia moved to a new city for her first job, she told God she wanted to trust Him more. But when rent was due, her savings ran out, and no one returned her calls, she wondered if God had forgotten her.

If you’ve ever been there—trying to follow God but feeling like you’re on your own—you’re in good company. The Bible’s book of Psalms is filled with moments like that. One man named David cried out, “Has the Lord rejected me forever?” Then, his perspective shifts. “I recall all You have done, O Lord” (Psalm 77). Looking back to remember God’s faithfulness restored his faith in the present.

When life feels uncertain, that’s a pattern worth following. Faith doesn’t always begin with confidence, it often begins with remembering. Go back in your mind to that answered prayer, that unexpected kindness, that time peace arrived in the middle of chaos. Each memory is like a stone on your own altar, a reminder that God didn’t fail you then, and He won’t fail you now.

Our trust in God grows each time we choose memory over panic. You may not see how God will provide or lead, but you can look back and say, “He’s carried me before; He’ll carry me again.” Mia thought back to how she’d trusted God to get through college. She remembered the circumstances that came together for her to get her new job. She saw His hand.

Every generation of believers learns this same truth: faith is built not in comfort, but in remembering. And those memories become the stepping stones that lead you forward—one act of trust at a time.
