She only listened for the music … but one hesitant moment changed everything.
Anu loved the peaceful music she found on her city’s Christian radio station where she lives in Mongolia. But when the music ended, she’d jump up and turn the radio off. She wasn’t interested in the programs about the Bible that came on afterward. A friend of hers kept trying to persuade her to keep listening. “Your life will change if you listen to them,” she told Anu. “I doubt that,” Anu told her friend.
One day, when a devotional program began, Anu hesitated as she reached for the radio. She began to listen. “At first,” she remembers, “I understood nothing. But slowly, I tried to understand what was being said. Then the miracle began.” Anu began to understand that God had created her for a purpose—that He loved her, despite anything she had done, or would ever do; that forgiveness was available to her through Jesus and that He wanted her to have peace and joy that even difficult times couldn’t take away.
As she listened, Anu didn’t know it, but it was God’s Spirit who began to make that miracle of understanding happen. The Bible explains: “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). “He has been changing my habits, attitudes, and character through your biblical programs,” she shared with the radio station. “I am grateful for tasting and seeing God’s goodness and developing a love for Him.”
Jesus prayed for all who would follow Him, saying, “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth” (John 17:17). For those who have the opportunity to hear, the gospel transforms lives.
