The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. Exodus 14:14

Sometimes the toughest battles are the invisible ones.

In a popular superhero movie, a hero battles invisible forces—fighting enemies no one else can see. In our own lives, we often face invisible battles too, struggles that others may not understand or even notice. Whether it’s anxiety, fear, or broken relationships, these struggles can leave us feeling isolated and overwhelmed. But the Bible offers powerful encouragement. Exodus 14:14 reminds us, “The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” God promises to step in when the fight feels too big for us to handle, even when it’s a battle no one else can see.

In those moments when the stress is mounting, how do we stay calm? The Bible book of Philippians gives us a pathway: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand” (Philippians 4:6-7a). Prayer invites God into our unseen struggles, offering peace that doesn’t come from circumstances.

Maybe you’re facing a situation that no one else understands—a hidden financial struggle, a conflict in your home, or the heavy burden of illness. It’s easy to feel alone, but God knows every detail of your invisible battles. He is already at work on your behalf, in His unmatched strength.

Is your interior world aflame right now? Admit the name of that battle to God. Imagine, for a moment, God, Himself, fighting for you, as He says He is. Invisible battles of anxiety, fear and brokenness are real, and so is the God of the Bible. You’re not facing the battle alone.
