Restrictions on women’s freedom of movement, education, and employment are far too real in many countries. For female listeners living in those regions, Guidelines programming is more than just a broadcast—it’s their church, their community, and their only connection to a Christian family. And for those who embrace the gospel, they become beacons that shine God’s light into the places they call home.
Recently, a woman named Nadia in Afghanistan heard Guidelines programming in the Dari language and wrote:
I grew up in a extremist Muslim family of Kandahar village. Since my childhood, tradition and religious duty shaped every part of my life. As a young girl, I was taught that my worth depended on how well I followed the rules of my religion. I prayed five times a day. Follow all the religious responsibility.
One day, I came across your radio program. It shared the message of Jesus’ love and grace. As I listened, I heard words that I had never truly understood before—words of hope, forgiveness, and a love that is not based on my performance. I learned that Jesus sees me, loves me, and offers me complete forgiveness.
For the first time in my life, I felt a weight lift from my heart. There is a verse mentioned “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” I no longer live in fear. Instead, I walk in freedom, knowing that I am loved by a God who sees me as His precious daughter.
Though we are worlds apart with vast cultural differences, God’s truth is the same in any language. Yet just as Christ upheld the dignity of women during his ministry on earth, we have an opportunity to let them know their worth in Him.
