But when the right time came, God sent his Son. Galatians 4:4a

As aggravating as it may be, some things take time.

The wisdom literature of the Bible tells us that there’s a time for everything under the sun (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Although God exists outside of the construct of time, the Bible also teaches that God keeps track of time. Scripture says, “… when the right time came, God sent his Son” (Galatians 4:4a). Sometimes God uses the passage of time to allow us to grow into what He ultimately has in mind for us. Your circumstances today may look nothing like what’s to come.

Have you ever seen a flamingo? That tall, slender bird with vibrant pink feathers, long, skinny legs, and a gracefully curved neck—usually found standing on one leg in shallow water? Baby flamingos are born with gray or white feathers, not the signature pink of adult flamingos. This is because their pink coloring comes from beta-carotene in the algae, brine shrimp and other food they eat. As they grow and continue to consume this diet, their feathers gradually turn pink. The process usually takes about two to three years for their full color to develop.[1]

If you’re impatiently waiting for something or wondering what God is doing in your circumstances, you’re in good company. One of God’s prophets asked Him, “How long, O Lord, must I call for help? But you do not listen!” (Habakkuk 1:2) God answered, “‘This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed'” (Habakkuk 2:3).

Be encouraged. Although God uses the passing of time as a tool in our lives, He

can be trusted. He always finishes what He starts and does all things well (Philippians 1:6).
