And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth…you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. John 14:16–17
A believer, a blanket and a simple meal. That’s just what Binh needed when he lost everything for following Jesus.
Binh paid a steep price for choosing Jesus in Vietnam. His family disowned him. His employer fired him. Forced from his home, he spent weeks living in an abandoned building outside the city. “I was hungry, alone, and ashamed,” Binh shared. ”I didn’t know how to stay faithful—or even survive.”
Each night, Binh whispered the same prayer: ”God, I want to follow You—but I can’t do this by myself.” And God answered—not in a dramatic rescue, but with quiet, daily strength. One local believer heard Binh’s story and brought him food and a blanket. Another offered him a place to sleep. Slowly, the Spirit of God began rebuilding what had been torn away from Binh’s life.
Jesus said, ”I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth” (John 14:16–17). That Helper is God’s Spirit, called the Holy Spirit. He’s also called the comforter. But He doesn’t just comfort us with feelings, He works through people, through Scripture, and through practical help in our daily lives. The Holy Spirit gives us courage to speak when we’re afraid, endurance when everything hurts, and even the power to forgive those who’ve wronged us.
Binh still lives with risk. But now, he’s no longer alone. He remembers that God’s Spirit lives within him—and he’s part of a growing underground church, where believers help one another stand strong.
The Holy Spirit doesn’t always take away the fire you’re facing in life. But He walks with you through it—and makes you stronger than you ever imagined.
