It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Zechariah 4:6b

How can God take our weakness and turn it into strength?

Joseph was supposed to lead a Bible study at his home one night, but after a long, exhausting day, all he wanted to do was relax. He felt more like laying on the couch and watching a game, not leading a discussion about faith. In fact, sleep sounded really appealing!

We’ve all felt like Joseph—tired, worn down, and ready to cancel plans. While there are certainly times when we need to pause and take care of ourselves, there are other moments when God calls us to push through the fatigue. Sometimes, that’s when He shows up most powerfully.

Jesus understands exhaustion. The Bible tells us that He tried to escape the crowds for a moment of peace, sat down to rest and even fell asleep in a boat. But despite His tiredness, when Jesus saw real need, He responded. One of those moments was when He was hungry and thirsty, yet took time to speak to a woman at a well—a conversation that led an entire village to Him. In the Bible book of John Jesus reminds us of His mission, saying, “This is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day” (John 6:39).

That night, Joseph prayed, “Jesus, I’m so tired. I can’t do this in my own strength. Please help me.” He wasn’t expecting much, but by the end of the night, five men decided to follow Jesus. It wasn’t Joseph’s strength that made the difference; it was God’s. God says, “[It’s] not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit” (Zechariah 4:6 NIV).

Exhausted today? Ask for His strength in your weakness.
