And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:18-20

Have you ever been far away from city lights and looked up at the stars?

Lucas traveled to a remote country in Africa. As he lay on a grass mat in the proverbial “middle of nowhere,” he realized he had never seen the stars as they really are. He said, “My whole life, city lights had dimmed the wonder of the night sky. Suddenly, I was speechless at the natural beauty of an uncountable number of stars, in differing colors and brightness, and so vast. I lay on that grass mat, looking at the stars for hours, filled with awe.”

Seeing the heavens’ vastness makes us feel small, but reminds us that we were made for wonder. Our natural expression before an infinite God is meant to be speechless awe and adoration.

What we’ve imagined about God is finite and our ways to describe Him are limited by time and space. We’re reaching to comprehend the unfathomable when we talk about the greatness of God. And yet, God says that He wants us to understand His infinite love for us. Scripture says, “May you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (Ephesians 3:18).

God longs for you to know Him personally. He’ll help you understand His infinite love for you.
