Even strong lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. Psalm 34:10

Antonio had finally gotten the degree he’d worked (and borrowed for), passed his board exams and gotten a good job. Then, less than a year later he was laid off.

“What is wrong with God?” Antonio asked himself, depressed and discouraged as he looked for a new job. Antonio is a follower of Jesus, and he’d asked God for help all along as he tried to get a start in life.

When we can’t see any good reason for the circumstances God has allowed in our lives—let’s be honest, and say, it’s hard! In these times, we have to ask ourselves, “Do we believe what God says about Himself, or not?” When we can’t see, we must lean on the truths we know, because God has placed them in scripture. Here are three of those truths:

God is not surprised by anything that happens in your life. Psalm 139:16 explains, “Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”

God has distinct plans for you. Here’s what God said to His people when they had been taken into captivity: “For I know the plans I have for you…They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

God promises to meet your needs. “Those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing,” Psalm 34:10 says.

When you can’t see the reason for what God has allowed, look back. Have you seen God in your life? Thank Him, ask for what you need and then press in hard to what you know.
