Find Peace In Jesus

Just before Jesus was put to death on the cross, He told his disciples, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you” (John 14:27 NKJV). How amazing for Him to tell the disciples He had peace when He knew that intense suffering lay ahead of Him! And He promised to give that kind of peace to His disciples.

How does that work out in your life and mine? You may be going through a very difficult time in your life right now.  You are struggling with a situation that robs you of all peace. Yet Jesus promises you peace. How can you have peace in hard times?

Notice that Jesus says that it’s His peace He will give to you. That’s the difference. His peace is not the absence of problems or suffering. Our God offers us His peace in the midst of our chaos. His peace doesn’t change with the circumstances.[1]

Jesus told His disciples not to let their hearts be troubled nor afraid.  Our hearts are troubled when we’re in the middle of a hard situation. Our hearts are afraid when we look at the future and fear that the circumstances are never going to change. So, how do we get His peace? The answer is found in Philippians 4:6 and 7:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Let God’s peace that passes all understanding bring relief to you now and take away the fear of the future. You can have His peace when you trust Him with the circumstances that are robbing you of peace.
