Finding God’s Compassion and Strength in Your Life

I love the verses in the Bible that speak of God’s tender care for us.  One of my favorites is Psalm 68:19: “Praise God our Savior! For each day He carries us in His arms.”  I love the 23rd Psalm, that tells us “The Lord is my Shepherd.” Here’s another In Isaiah 43:2 where God promised the Israelites, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,” not merely cheering from the sidelines but going into those floodwaters with us. And then there’s the verse in John 17 that tells us that God the Father loves us the same as the Father loved Jesus. The truth of that is almost overwhelming.

But I also love the verses that speak of God’s majesty, His creativity, His power, His strength, and His greatness. Verses that tell me He is the creator of the universe and the One who keeps it going.

Best of all, however, is the fact that the God who is the great creator and manager of the universe is the same God who loves me, cares for me as a mother cares for her baby and a father protects his children. He is both powerful and compassionate.

You may have a friend who is very compassionate. But if you were being attacked in a back alley by someone carrying a knife, you might not care if your friend was compassionate.  You would want to know whether he was strong enough to rescue you from the one who was attacking you,

God is both:  compassionate and strong.  So, whether right now you’re in a situation where you need someone strong enough to fight your battles, or you feel worn out and all alone and need someone to hold you in His arms, you need God! Turn to the One who is all that you need.  You won’t be disappointed.
