For the Son of Man [Jesus] came to seek and save those who are lost. Luke 19:9

Each of us looks at life through a lens that’s called our worldview and there are many different influences that inform that worldview.

For some, it’s politics. For others, peer groups, social networks, religion, education, and personal experience make up the way they see the world. The Bible tells a story in the book of Luke about a man named Zacchaeus who saw everything through the lens of materialism. He lived to accumulate wealth. Zacchaeus was even willing to work with the hated oppressors of his own people group to make more money. He stole, cheated, and put up with being despised by absolutely everyone, driven by greed and gain. But Zacchaeus felt empty, even when his purse was full. That’s what drove him, one day, to climb a tree in a desperate attempt to see Jesus over the crowds.

Jesus called up to Zacchaeus in that tree and asked to eat dinner with him. Zacchaeus was overjoyed! In a single day, over a single meal, Jesus’s love, kindness, and truth shattered Zacchaeus’s worldview, so much so that by the time Jesus left, Zacchaeus was not only intent on paying back everyone he had ever cheated four times over, but he also wanted to give half of everything he owned away! (Luke 19:1-9)

There is only One who can change our worldviews in a moment. Meeting Jesus changes everything and melts away empty priorities and ambitions. Have you met Jesus like this? We can build our entire lives around success, wealth, power, or beauty, only to realize our emptiness.  Luke 19:9 says, “For [Jesus] came to seek and save those who are lost.” If you’re lost in an unfulfilling worldview, ask Jesus to meet with you as He did Zacchaeus.
