Three Truths to Take Into Tomorrow

Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands. They will perish, but you remain forever; they will wear out like old clothing. You will change them like a garment and discard them. But you are always the same; you will live forever. The children of your people will live in security. Their children’s children will thrive in your presence. Psalms 102:25-28

This year will soon be over.  What has it left you with?

Ready or not, the plunge into a new year is upon us. Did the past year leave you feeling more vulnerable, more powerless, more unsure? Are you peering into the future thinking that you have only yourself to take you there? Here are three truths to meditate on when facing the unknown.

First, wherever tomorrow takes you, God waits for you there because He’s gone ahead of you. Just as He went ahead of His people in the Old Testament of the Bible– with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, God speaks to you today saying, “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Second, nothing that the future can bring can change God Himself. The Bible says, “Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands. They will perish, but you remain forever… you are always the same; you will live forever. The children of your people will live in security” (Psalms 102:25-28 excerpted).

The third truth is that God will always speak comfort, strength and wisdom to those who will listen. Scripture contains His words to you. Of itself, the Bible says, “People are like the grass. Their beauty fades as quickly as the flowers in a field… The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever'” (Isaiah 40:6-8 excerpted).

On the brink of tomorrow, remember, God is already there—you won’t be alone. He is not silent—you won’t be unguided, and He will never change—you can ground yourself in Him.
